Captains Message

A Message from the 2022 Captain

Mr Joe Walton

I would like to start my message to the membership by thanking Mark Thorpe, for the nomination, privilege, and honour of becoming Captain of Teesside Golf club in 2022. I also thank the members for their support and vote at the AGM.

This winter we have again seen more work done on improving our course, with more drainage, and work to be done on tee boxes, fairways, and bunkers. A larger pond has been created behind the 17th green to drain more water and reduce the need of running pumps during high water levels on the course.

This year my chosen charities will be the Teesside Hospice, and the Firefighters National Benevolent Fund, l feel they are both worthy charities, and look forward to your support in raising much needed funds for both causes.

We have a great and friendly golf club at Teesside with a great course, a wonderful clubhouse, and members who are friendly and welcoming both on and off the course. We are all aware we need work and modernisation in the clubhouse, hopefully the budget will be able to stretch far enough to cover everything required.

If anyone has any questions or queries regarding competitions, house, or greens matters, please approach the relevant members of the committee, as they should be able to provide adequate answers.

I would like to thank Lol Hodgson for accepting my invitation of being Vice Captain this year and I wish the Ladies Captain Michelle Leatherland, and the Junior Captain Freddie Roberts all the best for a great year and even better golfing.

Finally, l hope to meet as many members as possible and play golf with them. Both myself and Lol Hodgson hope to set up a Captain v Vice Captain's challenge and look forward to taking on all comers.

Finally, to all our members and visitors, enjoy the course and facilities, play well and have a great year.

Joe Walton
