Peter Scott our club captain has chosen three charities that hold special significance to him: The Butterwick Hospice (www.butterwick.org.uk), The Headlight Foundation (www.headlightproject.org), and The South Cleveland Heart Fund (www.schf.org.uk). Each of these charities will be hosting golf days here at Teesside, and he urges all members to show their support in any way possible. Whether it's putting together a team or spreading the word on social media, every little bit helps these organisations carry out their incredible work in the Teesside area and beyond.
Rita Lord, Lady captain has chosen The Aplastic Anaemia Trust as her charity for 2024. This is an ultra rare disease and is often referred to as an orphan disease due to minimal funding for research.
In 2018 my youngest grandson was diagnosed with this life threatening disease and my son Steven ran the London marathon to raise vital funds for the trust and Teesside GC collectively raised a fantastic £2000. All funds raised were well received and contributed to a super result for my family.
Isaiah is now 16 and responded well to new treatment that has been developed by the trust, He is living life to the full, captain of his ice hockey team and is free from medication. Long may this continue,
Please contribute at my charity events to fund further research and help other families.
Rita Lord.
